surprise post! ;) a little movie review.

so... i definitely have something worth talking about.

friday night i went to see a movie with a bunch of girls from bible study.. everyone decided to go see "easy A." it wasn't my preference, but i didnt care that much about which one we saw. but i did know before hand that the plot was completely ungodly and i knew the movie was going to somewhat be making fun of christians.. so that's pretty much why i had no interest in seeing it.

HOWEVER, nothing could've prepared me for the amount of complete & utter annihilation of the reputation of christians in that movie. it got to the point where i just wanted to leave (some people i know actually ended up doing so).  it was so clear to me that this movie was simply a tool of the devil to fill unsuspecting humans with his lies.. and not just any lies, very convincing, funny lies that only support all of the problems of today's society. by the time the movie was over, i felt completely exhausted, abused, and discouraged.  It was so incredibly sad to me that so many people had watched it and were soaking up all of this... well CRAP from the devil.

a christian movie critic puts it this way:
"There are over 40 uses of profanity, including 22 sh*t, 10 GD, 8 b*tch, and 5 as*. In one scene alone, over 6 uses of GD and 6 sh*t are spewed out. [haha just had to put that in there] The names of God and Jesus are profaned numerous times, as well... One of the self-proclaimed Christians has an affair with a faculty member and contracts Chlamydia before blaming Olive...Homosexuality is accepted as normal and, at times, praised throughout the film. While Olive’s parents are positive and loving, they give her very worldly advice about the normalcy of homosexuality and being sexually active. Her mother tells Olive of her promiscuous past and how her being a contortionist benefited her sex life; her father tells her that he was once gay for a long time...Olive’s antagonist is the Hollywood stereotype of the “self-righteous Christian.” Marianne is spiteful, a gossip, and very smug; the complete opposite of the fruit Christians should bear (Gal. 5:22-23). She has no resemblance to what a true follower of Christ should be. Perhaps the most disturbing part of the movie is during their religious meeting, the teens pray to get rid of Olive and sing empty songs of worship....As for whether or not I recommend this film, I wholeheartedly say to avoid it. Aside from its offensive content, the film has no worthy redemptive value, not because of its plot basis, but because of its execution and plot filler. “Easy A” does effectively show the destructive consequences of lies and gossip, and the ending is suitable, with Olive coming clean. However, the film had other agendas which permeated the film’s dialogue and jokes from beginning to end, and Christians shouldn’t pay money to hear it."

i still think this critic underestimated how bad this movie was. blatantly and purposely attacking Christians, God, Jesus, and everything good that comes from God.

it was hard to deal with.. i seemed to be one of few people who actually found the movie to be terrible. it made me feel alone and like the devil had won some victory. some people in the car ride home responded to my comments by saying, "well it was almost like it was so untrue that you just had to laugh at it."  and that frustrated me so much because thats another problem with people today, is that nobody takes it seriously that the devil is working in such extremely successful and devious ways. Anyways, it was just bad.

Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

Revelation 20:10
and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

1 Peter 5:8-9
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

Romans 16:20

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Exodus 15:6
Your right hand, O LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, O LORD, smashes the enemy.

So.. because of these truths, advice, and warnings, i was greatly encouraged.  To know how incredibly powerful the lies of the devil seemed during that time.. and to realize how much greater and more powerful than that GOD is... it's crazy.   It amazes me that God is even glorified to me through such a horrible experience.  It breaks my heart to see the devil working so deviously, but i am so encouraged to know that God is in complete control, and the devil can only do things that God allows him to do.
